North Greenville's Houser and Erskine's Johnson Named Conference Carolinas Baseball Players of the Week
HIGH POINT, N.C. – North Greenville University's David Houser was recognized as the Conference Carolinas Baseball Player of the Week, while Erskine College's Joe Johnson earned Conference Carolinas Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played the week of Feb. 29 - Mar. 6, the conference announced today.
Houser, a freshman from Columbia, S.C., was the catalyst behind North Greenville's 6-0 week, batting .450 with five homers and 14 RBI and nine runs scored. His best performance would come in a 16-0 win over Brevard in which he went 2-for-4 with two home runs and four RBI.
A senior from Greenwood, S.C., Johnson led the Flying Fleet to a 3-0 record in games he appeared, notching a 2-0 record and a save. In 11.1 innings of work Johnson posted seven Ks while giving up eight hits and one earned run to post a 0.79 ERA. His top performance came in a 3-2 win over Pfeiffer, which he pitched the final 5.2 innings of the 14-inning marathon to pick up the win.
