King's Lowe and Smothers Named Conference Carolinas Softball Players of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – King University's Morgan Lowe was named the Conference Carolinas Softball Player of the Week, while teammate Hayley Smothers was tabbed the Conference Carolinas Softball Pitcher of the Week for games played during the week of Feb. 29 - Mar. 6, the conference announced today.

Lowe, a junior from Damascus, Va., played the field in three games for the Tornado and batted .625 with four extra base hits (3 HRs), six RBI and four runs scored. Her best performance would come in an 11-2 win over Converse, as she went 2-for-3 with two home runs and four RBI.

A junior from Camden, Tenn., Smothers threw two complete games and posted a 2-0 record with nine strikeouts and a 0.50 ERA. In 14 innings of work she would scatter 12 hits and allow one earned run. Smothers would also have a solid week at the plate, batting .300 with three extra base hits and four RBI.
