Limestone Crowned Top Seed in 2016 Conference Carolinas Softball Championship
HIGH POINT, N.C. – Limestone College officially captured the 2016 Conference Carolinas regular season championship on Sunday (Apr. 24) afternoon after the conclusion of the season. The Saints will enter the 2016 Conference Carolinas Softball Championship as the No. 1 seed after turning in a 17-4 record in conference play.
Earning the No. 2 seed was Pfeiffer University after finishing the season 17-5, while University of Mount Olive captured the No. 3 seed with its 16-6 Conference Carolinas record. Erskine College registered a 15-7 record and locked up the No. 4 seed. North Greenville University and Belmont Abbey each finished with an 11-11 record, with North Greenville earning the No. 5 seed and Belmont Abbey receiving the No. 6 seed by tiebreaker rules. Rounding out the championship field is No. 7 seed King University with its 10-12 record and No. 8 seed Barton College with a 9-13 conference mark.
The 2016 Conference Carolinas Softball Championship will be hosted by Burlington Recreation & Parks on Apr. 28-30, at Springwood Park in Burlington, N.C. The Conference Carolinas Softball Championship winner will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Division II Softball Championship tournament.
