Erskine's Faunce and Johnson Named Conference Carolinas Baseball Players of the Week
HIGH POINT, N.C. – Erskine College's Henry Faunce was named the Conference Carolinas Baseball Player of the Week, while teammate Joe Johnson nabbed his second straight Conference Carolinas Baseball Pitcher of the Week honor for games played the week of Apr. 18-24, the conference announced today.
A junior from Faulkner, Md., Faunce hit .500 with a homer and five RBI to help the Flying Fleet capture its first Conference Carolinas championship. His top performance was a 2-for-3 outing with a grand slam and four RBI to clinch a doubleheader sweep of North Greenville and win the regular season championship.
Johnson, a senior from Greenwood, S.C., pitched five innings over two games for the Flying Fleet and notched a win to lead Erskine to a regular season championship. He would scatter five hits, allow no runs and strikeout eight batters on the week, with his best performance being three scoreless inning with four strikeouts in a 5-4 win over North Greenville.
