Mount Olive's Stegall and Barton's Alford Named Conference Carolinas Men's Track & Field Athletes of the Week
HIGH POINT, N.C. – University of Mount Olive's Austin Steagall and Barton College's Justin Alford have been named the Conference Carolinas Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, the conference announced today.
Steagall, a senior from Gaffney, S.C., shattered the NCAA provisional qualifier mark by 17 seconds in the steeplechase by winning the event with a time of 8:58.44 at the Duke Invitational.
A sophomore from Middlesex, N.C., Alford captured the pole vault title at the Phoenix Invitational with a Barton school record leap of 3.95m.
