Mount Olive's Ingram and Erskine's Newton Named Conference Carolinas Softball Players of the Week
HIGH POINT, N.C. – University of Mount Olive's Anna Ingram was selected as the Conference Carolinas Softball Player of the Week, while Erskine College's Danica Newton was tabbed the Conference Carolinas Softball Pitcher of the Week for games played during the week of Mar. 28 - Apr. 3, the conference announced today.
Ingram, a sophomore from Rosewood, N.C., batted .368 with seven hits and seven RBI to go along with five runs to lead the Trojans to a 6-0 week. Her 2-for-4 outing with a double and two RBI in a 5-3 win over Lees-McRae would prove to be her best game of the week.
A junior from Mt. Pleasant, S.C., Newton finished the week with a 2-0 record and a 0.55 ERA in 12.2 innings of action. She would scatter six hits and issue two walks while striking out three. Newton's no-hitter in a 3-0 win over Carson-Newman would be her top outing of the week.
