Erskine's Kieffer Named Conference Carolinas Women's Soccer Player of the Week
HIGH POINT, N.C. – Erskine College forward Kayla Kieffer has been named the Conference Carolinas Women's Soccer Player of the Week for matches played Sept. 5-11, the Conference announced today.
A junior from Middleburg, Fla., Kieffer was instrumental in both of the Flying Fleet's two 2-1 wins over Lander and North Greenville a week ago. The junior would tally five points on two goals and one assist between the two games.
Against Lander, Kieffer would net the match-tying goal with just 10 minutes left in regulation to force overtime. She would continue her magic just two minutes into the first OT period, as she placed a perfect corner kick in front of the goal for the match-winning header. Kieffer would then lead Erskine to its first Conference Carolinas win of the season with a goal in the 107th minute of double-overtime.
Kieffer ranks second in the Conference Carolinas standings in points (5) and goals (2), while ranking fifth in assists (1).
Also nominated for Women's Soccer Player of the Week: Katie Christiansen (Barton), Emily Barry (Converse), Madelynn Schober (North Greenville), Kaley Hyatt (Pfeiffer) & Brooke Hedgspeth (Belmont Abbey)
