Barton's Acevedo Named Conference Carolinas Women's Volleyball Player of the Week
HIGH POINT, N.C. – Barton College setter Angelica Acevedo has been named Conference Carolinas Women's Volleyball Player of the Week for matches played during the week of Sept. 5-11, the Conference announced today.
Hailing from Caomo, Puerto Rico, Acevedo posted three double-doubles for the Bulldogs and led the team to a 3-2 record last week. The sophomore dished out 228 assists for a 10.86 assists per set average and registered a 2.71 digs per set average after digging 57 balls. She would add seven blocks and six service aces to her weekly totals.
In a tough 3-2 loss to Chowan on Sept. 6, Acevedo would dish out her 1,000th career assist and finish the match with 50 assists and 13 digs. In the following two matches on Sept. 9, she would post 45 assists and 19 digs in a 3-1 loss to Francis Marion while dishing out 34 assists and 10 digs in a 3-0 sweep of Newberry. Acevedo would close out the week on Sept. 10 with 48 assists and six digs in a 3-1 win over UNC Pembroke and 51 assists and nine digs in a 3-2 win over Anderson (S.C.).
Acevedo tops the Conference Carolinas standing in total assists (387), assists per set (9.92) and service aces (16), while ranking sixth in total digs (111).
