Limestone's Messenger and Belmont Abbey's Sellars Selected in First Round of NLL Draft
TORONTO, ONTARIO – Former Conference Carolinas men's lacrosse standouts Mike Messenger of Limestone College and Connor Sellars of Belmont Abbey College were both selected in the first round of the 2016 National Lacrosse League Draft, it was recently announced.
Messenger, A highly-decorated midfielder from Surrey, British Columbia, was selected third overall by the Saskatchewan Rush. In his three years in Conference Carolinas, Messenger racked up three Offensive Player of the Year awards, three first team All-Conference Carolinas selections and four Conference Carolinas Player of the Week nods. As a Saint, Messenger received numerous national honors and collected two NCAA Division II National Championships.
Sellars, an attack from Brampton, Ontario, was selected by the Georgia Swarm with the 10th overall pick in the Draft. In his four years in Conference Carolinas, Sellars earned 2013 Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year and collected four All-Conference Carolinas selections.

Conference Carolinas is a NCAA Division II athletics conference made up of 12 teams from Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. These institutions consist of: Barton College, Belmont Abbey College, Converse College, Emmanuel College, Erskine College, King University, Lees-McRae College, Limestone College, University of Mount Olive, North Greenville University, Pfeiffer University, and Southern Wesleyan University. Emmanuel College is currently completing the NCAA Membership Process and will be fully competing in league championships in the near future.
