Limestone's Stewart Named Conference Carolinas Men's Basketball Player of the Week
HIGH POINT, N.C. – Limestone College guard Shaun Stewart has been named the Conference Carolinas Men's Basketball Player of the Week for games played Jan. 9-15, the Conference announced today. This is Stewart's third Conference POTW and Limestone's fifth of the season.
A senior from Indian Trail, N.C., Stewart was an efficient scoring machine for the Saints, as he led them to a 2-0 week in conference play. He averaged 28.5 points per game on 56.3 percent shooting, including 58.3 from three-point range, and 93.3 percent from the charity stripe. Stewart added five boards and 1.5 steals per game to his averages.
In a 74-61 win over Emmanuel, Stewart scored a modest 17 points and notched four boards, two assists and two steals. His best performance came in a 109-99 overtime win over Pfeiffer. Stewart poured in 40 points on 13-for-20 shooting (7-for-10 from three) and 7-for-7 from the free throw line with five rebounds.
Stewart averages 20.8 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.4 assists per game this season. He ranks first in Conference Carolinas with his 20.8 points while his 3.4 dimes is ninth in the league.
