Lees-McRae's Bingham and Johnson Named Conference Carolinas Women's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The Lees-McRae College duo of Erin Bingham and Jennifer Johnson have been named the Conference Carolinas Women’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for meets held Jan. 16-22, the conference announced today.

Bingham, a senior from West Jefferson, N.C., had a great showing for the Bobcats at the Mountaineer Indoor Track Meet hosted by Appalachian State University. She would break the program's indoor record for the 55 meter huddles with a time of 8.49, which was good enough for first among non-Division I participants and sixth overall.

A freshman from Yadkinville, N.C., Johnson put on a show at the Mountaineer Indoor Track Meet hosted by Appalachian State University. She would place first among non-Division I participants in the triple jump (fifth overall) with a jump of 11.01 meters, while notching a second-place non-Division I (10th overall) finish in the long jump with a jump of 4.98 meters.

Also nominated for Women’s Indoor Field Athlete of the Week: Shanelle Dowdell (Limestone), Natalie Nelson (Belmont Abbey), Samantha Stelmaszek (Southern Wesleyan) & Ebony Jones (King)
