No. 1 Seed Limestone Wins 2017 Conference Carolinas Men's Soccer Championship
HIGH POINT, N.C. – Limestone College nabbed the 2017 Conference Carolinas Men's Soccer Championship on Sunday (Nov. 5) afternoon after beating University of Mount Olive, 4-1. The No. 7 nationally ranked Saints move to 15-2-2 overall, while the Trojans dropped to 10-7-2 on the season.
The win earns Limestone the season sweep of regular season and tournament titles. The Saints also secured a trip to the NCAA Men's Soccer Championship as an automatic qualifier, with the appearance being the team's fifth straight.
A red card against Limestone in the 24th minute would be the most action in the first half, as the teams played to a 0-0 tie after 45 minutes of action.
Limestone's Ruairi Croskery would break the stalemate in the 51st minute, scoring off a rebound. He would not wait long to score again, putting away a bicycle kick in the 54th minute. Miguel Anton would then get into the scoring action with a tally in the 72nd minute, while Dominic Boland added the final Saints' goal just moments later in the 73rd minute. Mount Olive's Grant Conybear would score a late penalty in the 88th minute to break the shutout.
Limestone, who is No. 1 in the Southeast region, will find out its 2017 NCAA Men's Soccer Championship draw on Monday (Nov. 6) night at 6:30 p.m. on the NCAA Selection Show.

Conference Carolinas is a NCAA Division II athletics conference made up of 11 teams from Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. These institutions consist of: Barton College, Belmont Abbey College, Converse College, Emmanuel College, Erskine College, King University, Lees-McRae College, Limestone College, University of Mount Olive, North Greenville University, and Southern Wesleyan University. Emmanuel College is currently completing the NCAA Membership Process and will be fully competing in league championships in the near future.
