Mount Olive's Hutchison Named NCBWA Southeast Pitcher of the Week
HIGH POINT, N.C. – University of Mount Olive's Austin Hutchison has been named the NCBWA Southeast Pitcher of the Week, as selected by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).
A senior from Dandridge, Tenn., Hutchison tossed a gem against Southeast regional power USC Aiken. In a 1-0 win, Hutchison went eight innings and punched out 10 batters while surrendering three hits and three walks.
Hutchison ranks first in Conference Carolinas with a .86 ERA, while ranking second in wins (3) and fifth in strikeouts.
Conference Carolinas is a NCAA Division II athletics conference made up of 12 teams from Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. These institutions consist of: Barton College, Belmont Abbey College, Converse College, Emmanuel College, Erskine College, King University, Lees-McRae College, Limestone College, University of Mount Olive, North Greenville University, Pfeiffer University, and Southern Wesleyan University. Emmanuel College is currently completing the NCAA Membership Process and will be fully competing in league championships in the near future.
