Limestone's Allen and Southern Wesleyan's Batten Named Conference Carolinas Baseball Players of the Week
HIGH POINT, N.C. – Limestone College's Chase Allen was named the Conference Carolinas Baseball Player of the Week, while Southern Wesleyan University's Mike Batten was tabbed the Conference Carolinas Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played Feb. 20-26, the Conference announced today.
A sophomore from Sharpsburg, Ga., Allen is the second Saint in as many weeks to produce at a high rate for Limestone. He batted .529 with nine hits, including four doubles and four home runs, and 12 RBI. Allen's best game was a 3-for-4 outing in a 12-4 win over Barton, which saw him tally a double and smash two homers to go along with four RBI.
Batten, a sophomore from Riverview, Fla., posted a 1-0 record last week after throwing eight scoreless innings for the Warriors. He would scatter four hits and issue four walks, but struck out 10 to lead Southern Wesleyan to a 5-2 victory over North Greenville.
