North Greenville's Allen Named to 2017 NABC Good Works Team

INDIANAPOLIS, IND. - Allstate Insurance Company, the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) and the Women's Basketball Coaches Association (WBCA) announced recently the 20 student-athletes who have been named to the 2017 Allstate NABC and WBCA Good Works Teams®.

The Allstate NABC and WBCA Good Works Teams® are each comprised of 10 student-athletes – five from NCAA® Division I, and five from NCAA Divisions II, III and the NAIA. Representing Conference Carolinas on the NABC Good Works Team was North Greenville University forward Bryce Allen

Allen, a sophomore from Clover, S.C., was one of the 278 players nominated for the honor, with the list being narrowed to 181 nominees in December 2016. Allen is one of two NCAA Division II players to earn a spot on the team.

Allen was nominated for the Good Works Team after spending last summer in West Virginia working and witnessing to children in low-income communities. He worked with a non-profit organization called The Wade Center, spending nine weeks with 75 kids ages six through 12. The Wade Center relies heavily on mission teams from churches across the United States to serve them, the children and the community.

"The Wade Center's goal was not to just serve as a daycare for parents to drop their children off," said Allen. "But instead, to make a place where Christ was shared freely and often with the kids."

The Allstate NABC and WBCA Good Works Teams® recognizes players at all levels of college basketball whose charitable involvement and altruistic acts stand out amongst all other student-athletes participating in the sport.

Since 2013, members of the Allstate NABC and WBCA Good Works Teams® have given back to the host cities of the NCAA®Final Fours® through a community service initiative and monetary donation. This year, members of the Allstate NABC Good Works Team® will be invited by Allstate to be recognized at the 2017 NABC Convention and 2017 NCAA Men's Final Four® and will participate in a community service project to benefit Phoenix.

More information about the Allstate NABC Good Works Team® and the Allstate WBCA Good Works Team® is available at www.nabc.org and www.wbca.org.
