Eight Conference Carolinas Student-Athletes Garner All-America Honors at 2017 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships
HIGH POINT, N.C. – Conference Carolinas had eight student-athletes compete at the 2017 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships in at the Birmingham Crossplex in Birmingham, Ala. from Mar. 9-11. All eight competitors earned All-America honors in at least one of their events.
Headling the group is Limestone College's Marshawn Scott, who took home the national championship in the 60m hurdles. The national title is the first in Limestone's track and field history.
Also representing Limestone was Marquett Simmons Jr., who nabbed a pair of All-America honors after finishing fourth in the 200m dash and seventh in the 60m dash, respectively.
North Greenville University's JJ Serman also competed in the 60m dash and finished fourth to be named All-America.
King University's Vincent Okot earned All-America honors in the triple jump, as he finished sixth overall.
Barton College's Larry Russell Jr. participated in a pair of events at the 2017 Championships. He would place eighth in the high jump to earn the program's first indoor All-America honors. Russell Jr. also placed 15th in the long jump.
The University of Mount Olive trio of Leah Hanle, Jonathan Dahlke and Adam Craig each earned All-America honors in their respective 3000m run events. Hanle posted a 10th-place finish in the women's event, while Dahlke came in sixth and Craig 11th in the men's event.

Conference Carolinas is a NCAA Division II athletics conference made up of 12 teams from Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. These institutions consist of: Barton College, Belmont Abbey College, Converse College, Emmanuel College, Erskine College, King University, Lees-McRae College, Limestone College, University of Mount Olive, North Greenville University, Pfeiffer University, and Southern Wesleyan University. Emmanuel College is currently completing the NCAA Membership Process and will be fully competing in league championships in the near future.
