Belmont Abbey's Beinlich and Erskine's Calvert Named Conference Carolinas Baseball Players of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – Belmont Abbey College's Nick Beinlich was named the Conference Carolinas Baseball Player of the Week, while Erskine College's Alex Calvert earned the Conference Carolinas Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played Mar. 6-12, the Conference announced today.

A senior from Easton, Pa., Beinlich batted .625 with 10 hits and led the Crusaders to a 4-0 week. Of the 10 hits, six were of the extra-base variety, including four home runs. Beinlich would also score 10 runs while driving in 11 RBI. He went 3-for-5 with three homers and five RBI in a 17-13 win over Barton for his best outing of the week.

Calvert, a sophomore from La Platta, Md., picked up his fifth win of the season after throwing 6.2 innings of work against Limestone. In the 1-0 win, Calvert would give up three hits and issue two walks, but would punch out 11 batters for his third double-digit strikeout performance of the season.
