Barton's Webster Named NCBWA Southeast Hitter of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C.Barton College's Andrew Webster has been named the NCBWA Southeast Hitter of the Week, as selected by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA).

Webster, a senior from Pittsboro, N.C., led the Bulldogs to a 4-1 record after having a spectacular week at the plate. He collected 13 hits, including eight extra-base hits (5 2b, 3 hr), for a .765 average and seven RBI. His best outing came in Barton's lone loss, as he went 5-for-5 with two homers, two doubles and three RBI.

Webster leads NCAA Division II and Conference Carolinas in home runs (15), while ranking first in the conference and fourth in the nation in RBI (43). His 49 total hits rank fifth in the nation and second in the conference, with his .454 batting average ranking first in the league.

Conference Carolinas is a NCAA Division II athletics conference made up of 12 teams from Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. These institutions consist of: Barton College, Belmont Abbey College, Converse College, Emmanuel College, Erskine College, King University, Lees-McRae College, Limestone College, University of Mount Olive, North Greenville University, Pfeiffer University, and Southern Wesleyan University. Emmanuel College is currently completing the NCAA Membership Process and will be fully competing in league championships in the near future.
