Mount Olive's Rendon-Alcala and King's Okot Named Conference Carolinas Men's Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C.University of Mount Olive's Guillermo Rendon-Alcala and King University's Vincent Okot have been named the Conference Carolinas Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for meets held Mar. 20-26, the Conference announced today.

Rendon-Alcala, a sophomore from Mijas Costa, Spain, collected a pair of top-three finishes for the Trojans at the Dr. Jack Toms Alumni Invitational hosted by Lynchburg College. In the 100 meter dash, Rendon-Alcala would take first with a time of 10.51, while coming in second-place in the 200 meter dash with a time of 21.43. While setting NCAA Provisional marks in each event, Rendon-Alcala also broke the UMO school record in the process.

A senior from Murfreesboro, Tenn., Okot earned a first-place finish for the Tornado at the Winthrop Adidas Invitational hosted by Winthrop University. Okot would take home the crown in the triple jump with a jump of 14.82 meters, which beat the runner-up by .43 meters and beat the closest Division II competitor by 1.41 meters.
