Belmont Abbey's Cureton and Mount Olive's Zimmerman Named Conference Carolinas Baseball Players of the Week
HIGH POINT, N.C. – Belmont Abbey College's Luke Cureton was named the Conference Carolinas Baseball Player of the Week, while University of Mount Olive's Bruce Zimmerman earned the Conference Carolinas Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played Mar. 20-26, the Conference announced today.
A sophomore from Indianapolis, Ind., Cureton posted a .412 batting average by collecting seven hits, including three homers and two doubles, while having 10 RBI on the week for the Crusaders. His top performance was a 2-for-4 showing at the plate in a 24-10 win over Pfeiffer, as he hit a double and homer and drove in five runs.
Zimmerman, a senior from Woodstock, MD., went 8.2 innings and gave up five hits and one earned run while striking out 11 batters to propel the Trojans to a 2-1 win over North Greenville.
