Pfeiffer's Pennell and Limestone's Weber Named Conference Carolinas Softball Players of the Week
HIGH POINT, N.C. – Pfeiffer University's Makenzie Pennell was named the Conference Carolinas Softball Player of the Week, while Limestone College's Josie Weber was named Conference Carolinas Softball Pitcher of the Week for games played Apr. 3-9, the Conference announced today.
A freshman from Taylorsville, N.C., Pennell picked up her third POTW honor this year and fourth for Pfeiffer after having a solid weekend for the No. 3 Falcons. In a doubleheader with Southern Wesleyan, Pennell batted .600 (3-for-5) with three home runs, five RBI and four runs scored. In the process, she broke the Pfeiffer single-season RBI (49) record and sits second all-time in single-season home runs with 10.
Weber, a junior from Stanley, N.C., won her fifth Pitcher of the Week award and the sixth straight for Limestone. She recorded a four-hit shutout in the No. 21 Saints 7-0 win over Emmanuel, issuing one walk and striking out three in seven innings of work.
