2016-17 Conference Carolinas Men's Golf All-Conference and Major Awards Announced
HIGH POINT, N.C. – Nick Stafford of Belmont Abbey College was named the 2017 Conference Carolinas Men's Golfer of the Year to headline the 2016-17 Conference Carolinas men's golf awards. Belmont Abbey's Jacob Scruggs was tabbed as the Freshman of the Year, while Limestone College's Zack Siefert was named the Conference Carolinas Men's Golf Coach of the Year, the conference announced tonight.
Stafford averaged 71.33 strokes on the season. He competed in nine tournaments for the Crusaders, earning seven Top-Five Finishes and four tournament wins.
Scruggs averaged 75.39 strokes in nine tournaments for the season. He earned two Top-Five finishes and a tournament win at the Matt Dyas Invitational.
Limestone’s Siefert has been named the Conference Carolinas Coach of the Year, sweeping the men’s and women’s award for the first time in his career. Siefert has guided the Saints to a conference championship sweep in each of the past seasons, and has led the Blue and Gold to six top-5 finishes on the men’s side and four top-5 finishes on the women’s side this year. Limestone men’s team won the Southern Tide Classic while the women’s team finished as the runner-up at the Barton Invitational at Kiawah.
Stafford is joined on the All-Conference First Team by the North Greenville duo of Seth Robertson and Evan Gfeller. Rounding out the first team is Filip Sandberg of Limestone and Zach Weaver of Pfeiffer.
