Five Conference Carolinas Teams Named 2016-17 AVCA Team Academic Award Recipients
LEXINGTON, KY. - Conference Carolinas had five total volleyball teams be named 2016-17 AVCA Team Academic Award recipients, it was announced on Monday by the America Volleyball Coaches Association (AVCA).
Receiving the honor was Barton College, Lees-McRae College, Limestone College and North Greenville University on the women's side, while University of Mount Olive was the lone Conference Carolinas men's squad named to the list.
In addition to its Team Academic Award, Limestone also made the AVCA Team Academic Honor Roll (Top-25 GPA) and reached its Dig Pink fundraising goal.
The award, which was initiated in the 1992-93 academic year, honors collegiate and high school volleyball teams that displayed excellence in the classroom during the school year by maintaining at least a 3.30 cumulative team grade-point average on a 4.0 scale or a 4.10 cumulative team GPA on a 5.0 scale.

The mission of the AVCA is to advance the sport of volleyball with AVCA coaches at the epicenter of leadership, advocacy and professional development. With a membership of almost 7,000 and counting, the AVCA provides a professional network for those individuals and companies dedicated to enhancing and promoting the sport.
