HIGH POINT, N.C.King University's James Russell Ballowe and Lees-McRae College's Jalen Martin have been named the Conference Carolinas Men’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for meets held Jan. 8 - Jan. 14, the Conference announced today.

A senior from Roseland, Va., Ballowe started off his season this past weekend with impressive performances in two different races at the ETSU Invitational.  Outpacing a field of 34 other runners, including numerous Division I athletes, he won the 5000 meter run in a time of 15:30.75, topping the next-fastest time by nearly 8 seconds.  The following day, Ballowe posted an equally impressive race in the 3000 meter run, placing 16th in a time of 8:54.07.  He currently sits atop the conference performance list in both events.

Martin, a freshman from Concord, N.C., started his first season with the Bobcats on a strong note by posting solid finishes in three events at the ETSU Invitational.  In the long jump, he recorded a mark of 6.72m (22' 3/4") to solidify 7th-place honors, the highest finish of any Bobcat on the weekend.  He also competed in the 200m run (22.45) and the 60m dash (7.06), posting 19th and 26th-place finishes, respectively.  He currently sits in the top-10 in the conference in all three events.
