Limestone's Fareed and Mount Olive's Bayles Named Conference Carolinas Men's Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week
HIGH POINT, N.C. – Limestone College's Naim Fareed and University of Mount Olive's Martin Bayles have been named the Conference Carolinas Men’s Indoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for meets held Dec. 2 - Jan. 7, the Conference announced today.
Fareed, a senior from Decatur, G.A., posted an NCAA provisional qualifying mark in the 60m hurdles in his first outing of the season at the JDL College Kick-Off Classic. His meet-winning time of 8.13 seconds is currently the top time in the conference and the ninth-best in Division II. That time is only 0.01 seconds off his PR in that event.
A junior from Mount Olive, N.C., Bayles started his indoor season off with a bang at the CNU Holiday Open on December 9 when he broke his own school record in the pole vault, which he had previously set just the weekend before in his season-opener. His winning vault of 4.40m (14' 5 1/4") was an indoor personal best by almost a foot, and currently has him sitting atop the conference standings.
