Barton's Cathers Named Conference Carolinas Women's Swimmer of the Week
HIGH POINT, N.C. – Barton College's Kleanza Cathers has been named the Conference Carolinas Women's Swimmer of the Week for meets swam during the week of Oct. 8-14, the Conference announced today.
Cathers, a sophomore from Kitimat, British Columbia, notched four first-place victories, two second-place finishes and one third-place finish to lead Barton to a 1-2 record to open the season.
Against Catholic University of America, Cathers would win three individual events in the 50-yard freestyle (25.47), 200-yard backstroke (2:12.91) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:18.37). She would also lead her team to a second-place finish in the 200-yard medley relay (1:56.63).
In a dual-meet with Howard and VMI, Cathers would win the 500-yard freestyle (5:28.92). She would then take second in the 200-yard freestyle (2:00.95), while taking third in the 200-yard butterfly (2:20.79).
