FRANKLIN SPRINGS, GA. – Emmanuel College knocked off Belmont Abbey College to win the 2018 Conference Carolinas Women's Volleyball Championship on Sunday (Nov. 11) afternoon. Emmanuel moves to 23-8 overall, while the Crusaders drop to 23-10 on the year.

In their first season of postseason eligibility, the Lions earned the season sweep of the regular season (South Division) and tournament championships. Emmanuel books its first-ever trip to NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Championship by beating Belmont Abbey 3-1 in the championship match.

The Lions would fend off a late Crusader comeback and win the first set in dominant fashion with a score of 25-16. The second set would be super competitive between the two teams, as Belmont Abbey would get out to an early lead before Emmanuel would make a comeback and eventually win the set 25-23.

The Crusaders would fight off the sweep with a 25-16 set three victory to keep their championship hopes alive by forcing a fourth set. In the fourth set, the teams would battle back and forth before Emmanuel pulled away late to win the set 25-20 and the match 3-1 over Belmont Abbey.
