Mount Olive's Stone and King's Mirabal Named Conference Carolinas Baseball Players of the Week
HIGH POINT, N.C. – University of Mount Olive's JT Stone was tabbed the Conference Carolinas Baseball Player of the Week, while King University's Octavio Mirabal was tabbed the Conference Carolinas Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played Feb. 1-4, the Conference announced today.
Stone, a junior from Fayetteville, N.C., tallied six hits and a .429 average at the plate to lead the No. 7 Trojans to a 2-1 record against Lander University. He collected four extra-base hits (2 HR, 3B, 2B) and drove in 11 RBI. Stone's best performance was in UMO's narrow 11-10 loss, as he went 3-for-5 with two homers and six RBI.
A senior from Miami, Fla., Mirabal was dealing in a 4-0 complete game shutout of Anderson (S.C.). He struck out nine batters in seven innings of work, while only allowing four hits and issuing one walk.
