HIGH POINT, N.C.Southern Wesleyan University's Dymitric Ray and Barton College's Micah Clemmons have been named the Conference Carolinas Men’s Outdoor Track & Field Athletes of the Week, respectively, for meets held March 12-18, the Conference announced today.

A freshman from Woodruff, S.C., Ray posted impressive opening marks both individually and as part of two relays this past weekend at the 49er Classic.  In the open 400, Ray ran a personal record time of 48.6 seconds to finish in 11th place as the top Division II competitor in the field.  That mark places him atop both the conference and region standings.  Ray also competed as part of the 4x400 meter relay that set a new school record in 3:17.08.

Clemons, a sophomore from Greenville, N.C., placed himself on the Division II qualifying list in his first outdoor meet of the season.  His mark of 55.03 meters (180' 6") in the hammer throw at the 49er Classic was a personal best and school-record by 5 meters and was good for second place at the meet, behind only a Division I competitor.  His provisional qualifying mark is currently the 11th-best in Division II and leads both the conference and the Southeast Region.
