No. 2 Seed Lees-McRae Wins 2018 Conference Carolinas Men's Basketball Championship

BANNER ELK, N.C. – No. 2 seed Lees-McRae College claimed the 2018 Conference Carolinas Men's Basketball Championship on Sunday (Mar. 4) afternoon after defeating No. 8 seed Belmont Abbey College by a score of 75-72.

This win secures the Bobcats their first-ever Conference Carolinas Men's Basketball Championship title. The victory also notches LMC an automatic bid to the 2018 NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Championship, which is Lees-McRae's first-ever NCAA Men's Basketball postseason appearance.

The Bobcats will find out its 2018 NCAA tournament seeding tonight on the NCAA Selection Show. In the mix for at-large bid is King University, who is regionally ranked No. 7 in the Southeast.

Conference Carolinas is a NCAA Division II athletics conference made up of 11 teams from Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina and Tennessee. These institutions consist of: Barton College, Belmont Abbey College, Converse College, Emmanuel College, Erskine College, King University, Lees-McRae College, Limestone College, University of Mount Olive, North Greenville University, and Southern Wesleyan University. Emmanuel College is currently completing the NCAA Membership Process and will be fully competing in league championships in the near future.
