2018 Conference Carolinas Men's Tennis All-Conference and Major Awards Announced
HIGH POINT, N.C. – University of Mount Olive's Armando Ferreira swept the 2018 Conference Carolinas Men's Tennis major awards after being named both Player and Freshamn of the Year. In addition, Alan Ferguson of Limestone College was tabbed the Coach of the Year, the Conference announced today.
Ferreira, a freshman from Minacu, Brazil, finished the regular season with a 14-4 overall record in singles action as UMO's No. 1 player and went an impressive 9-1 against conference opponents. In doubles action, Ferreira and partner Jack Middleton collected a 17-2 overall record and an 8-2 conference mark which earned them national recognition by the ITA, ranking as high as 21st in the nation. Ferreira was also named Conference Carolinas Player of the Week once during the season.
Ferguson notches Coach of the Year honors after leading the Saints to an undefeated 10-0 mark in Conference Carolinas play and a 13-6 overall record.
Ferreira was joined on the first team by teammate Jack Middleton, while Federico Garnier (Limestone), Ghassan Alansi (Chowan), Zachary Blythe (Belmont Abbey) and Lennard Keswani (King) rounded out the honorees.

Conference Carolinas is a NCAA Division II athletics conference made up of 11 teams from Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. These institutions consist of: Barton College, Belmont Abbey College, Converse College, Emmanuel College, Erskine College, King University, Lees-McRae College, Limestone College, University of Mount Olive, North Greenville University, and Southern Wesleyan University. Emmanuel College is currently completing the NCAA DII membership process and will be fully competing in league championships in the near future.
