2018 Conference Carolinas Men's Lacrosse All-Conference and Major Awards Announced
HIGH POINT, N.C. – University of Mount Olive's Jacob Ball and Belmont Abbey College's Liam Osborne were voted the 2018 Co-Conference Carolinas Men's Lacrosse Offensive Players of the Year. Mount Olive's Will Urban collected the league's Defensive Player of the Year, while Limestone College's Noah Lindner was named the Freshman of the Year. Additionally, Mount Olive's Mike Murphy garnered Coach of the Year honors, the Conference announced today.
Ball, a senior from Newtown, Conn., earned Conference Carolinas Co-Offensive Player of the Year honors for the first time in his career. Ball led the Trojans this season in goals (26), assists (17), and points (43), while also scooping up 33 groundballs.
Osborne, a junior attack from Bowmanville, Ontario, was named Conference Carolinas Co-Offensive Player of the Year collecting 53 points on 33 goals and 20 assists durinng the 2018 season.
Urban, a senior from Bel Air, Md., earned Conference Carolinas Defensive Player of the Year honors for the first time in his career. He has started all 15 games for UMO, leading the nation in save percentage (62.1) and ranking second in goals-against average (6.57) with 151 total saves.
Lindner, a freshman from Apple Valley, Minn., becomes just the second player in Limestone history to be selected the Freshman of the Year. Lindner has dished out a team-best 20 assists in his rookie campaign, and enters the Conference Carolinas Championship currently ranked fourth on the team with 35 points.
Murphy, in his sixth season at UMO, coached the Trojans to their first-ever regular season Conference Carolinas Championship in 2018. Murphy has a career record of 66-29, 24-11 in conference play, and has led UMO the Conference Carolinas tournament each of the last five years.

Conference Carolinas is a NCAA Division II athletics conference made up of 11 teams from Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee. These institutions consist of: Barton College, Belmont Abbey College, Converse College, Emmanuel College, Erskine College, King University, Lees-McRae College, Limestone College, University of Mount Olive, North Greenville University, and Southern Wesleyan University. Emmanuel College is currently completing the NCAA DII membership process and will be fully competing in league championships in the near future.
