Belmont Abbey's Maxwell Named Conference Carolinas Men's Volleyball Player of the Week


HIGH POINT, N.C.Belmont Abbey College outside hitter Liam Maxwell  has been named the Conference Carolinas Men's Volleyball Player of the Week for matches played from Jan. 7-13, the Conference announced today.

A junior from Manahawkin, N.J., Maxwell put away 34 kills for a 3.78 kills per set on .388 hitting to go with 14 digs (1.56), eight service aces (.89) and six blocks (.67) to lead Belmont Abbey to a 1-1 record last week.

In a 3-2 win over Campbellsville, Maxwell tallied 19 kills on .455 hitting and narrowly missed out on a double-double with nine digs, while serving up five aces and adding four blocks. He closed out the week with 15 kills on .324 hitting, five digs, three aces and two blocks in a 3-1 loss to Lincoln Memorial.

 

Also nominated for Men's Volleyball Player of the Week:
Jackson Gilbert (North Greenville) - Averaged 3.29 kills per set on .232 hitting with 2.29 digs per set in two matches. Posted one double-double.
Adrian Iglesias (Barton) - Averaged 3.67 kills per set on .280 hitting with .67 digs per set in one match.
Keegan Sullivan (Erskine) - Averaged 2.70 kills per set on .419 hitting in three matches.
Don Thompson (Emmanuel) - Averaged 2.50 kills per set on .344 hitting with 1.33 blocks, .75 digs and .25 service aces per set in three matches.
