Mount Olive Captures Top 15 Finish at National Championship Race
 
SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Nationally 24th-ranked Mount Olive finished 15th in the 2019 NCAA Division II Men’s Cross Country Championship on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019 at the Arcade Creek Cross Country Course at Haggin Oaks.  
 
The Trojans had two finish in the top 60 individually with Conference Carolinas champion Tai Smith leading the way with a 47th place finish with a time of 30:57.3. Jacob Gonzalez ended his efforts in 57th with a time of 31:04.8.

The top-15 finish in the national championship race was part of a fantastic 2019 campaign for the Mount Olive men's cross country team. 
 

Mount Olive won its eighth straight Conference Carolinas Men's Cross Country Championship on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2019.  

The Trojans secured the first five spots and seven of the top 11 spots in collecting their eighth straight title with an impressive score of just 15. Smith secured the individual title with a time of 25:42.4. Mount Olive owned a total team time average of 25:52. 

To advance to the NCAA Division II Men’s Cross Country Championship for the eighth straight year, Mount Olive picked up a third-place team finish at the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional on Nov. 9. 

Mount Olive had five individuals in the top 20 with Gonzalez leading the way with an 11th-place finish (31:49.4). Smith (31:56.5) finished 13th, while Jacob Willis was 15th (32:07.2) and Branson Oduor was 17th (32:12.6). Daniel Francken (32:16.4) finished 19th.
