Royal and Sistrunk Share South Atlantic Conference Carolinas Men’s Wrestler of the Week Honors
GREENVILLE, S.C. - Isiah Royal of Newberry and Jervey Sistrunk of Limestone are sharing South Atlantic Conference Carolinas Men’s Wrestler of the Week honors for the fourth week of the season.
The league office made the official announcement on Tuesday, Nov. 26, 2019.
Both Royal and Sistrunk picked up titles in their weight class this past weekend at the King University Tornado Open.
A native of Guyton, Ga., Royal went 4-0 at the Tornado Open to win the 149-pound division. The junior won three bouts by fall and gave up a total of only three points during the whole tournament.
A freshman from Plainfield, N.J., Sistrunk won the 285-pound division at the Tornado Open. Sistrunk started his title run with a pin victory over Chris Keller of Tennessee. He then bested Newberry’s Devon Rice with a 5-1 decision to move on to the semifinals where he advanced past Brewton-Parker’s Cameron Carr. In the championship bout, Sistrunk was able to get the pin of Cumberland’s Dylan Cunningham with just six seconds left.
