GREENVILLE, S.C. - Shanika Peterkin of Barton has been chosen as the Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
The league office made the official announcement on Monday, Dec. 16, 2019. Peterkin has now claimed weekly Player of the Week honors twice this season. She was also named Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball Player of the Week on Nov. 18.
A junior center from Virginia Beach, Va., Peterkin averaged 19.5 points, 13.0 rebounds, 4.5 blocks and 3.0 steals per game in two games last week for Barton. She shot 51.7 percent (15-of-29) from the field in the two games.
Peterkin ended her efforts with 24 points and 14 rebounds against Emmanuel on Dec. 12 before posting 15 points and 12 boards in a win over King on Dec. 14. Peterkin currently is in the midst of a streak of eight consecutive double-doubles. She leads the league in rebounds (12.3) and blocks (3.9) per game.
