Barton Picked as Favorite in 2020 Conference Carolinas Men’s Volleyball Preseason Poll
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Defending champion Barton has been picked as the favorite in the 2020 Conference Carolinas Men’s Volleyball Preseason Poll.
The conference office officially unveiled the preseason poll that was chosen by the league’s head coaches on Thursday, Dec. 19, 2019.
Barton shared the 2019 Conference Carolinas men’s volleyball regular season title with King, but the Bulldogs advanced to the NCAA Tournament via a thrilling 3-2 (23-25, 25-22, 25-13, 25-27, 17-15) win over King in the 2019 Conference Carolinas Men’s Volleyball Tournament final to capture their second league tournament title in program history.
Barton and King have shared the regular season title for three straight seasons entering the spring of 2020, but Barton’s five first-place votes and a total of 76 points allowed them to capture the top spot in the preseason tally. King collected one first-place vote and a total of 67 points to sit second just one point ahead of Mount Olive (66) in third. The Trojans picked up two first-place votes.
Four Conference Carolinas team received a first-place vote in total with Belmont Abbey’s one first-place vote and a total of 63 points leaving them fourth in the preseason poll. Limestone was fifth with a total of 56 points. North Greenville (46), Emmanuel (38), Erskine (32) and Lees-McRae (24) closed out the voting in the preseason poll.
The 2020 Conference Carolinas men’s volleyball season begins right after the start of the new year on Jan. 2, 2020.
