Emmanuel Bows Out of NCAA Women's Volleyball Southeast Regional With Quarterfinal Loss to Wingate

Emmanuel Bows Out of NCAA Women's Volleyball Southeast Regional With Quarterfinal Loss to Wingate 
 
WINGATE, N.C. - Conference Carolinas Tournament champion and eighth-seeded Emmanuel fell 3-0 to top-seeded Wingate in the quarterfinals of the NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Southeast Regional. 
 
The two teams would keep things close over the first few points, but Wingate (30-2) would pull ahead to a 13-8 lead before extending that lead to six points later at 19-13. Wingate would go on to take a 25-18 win in the first set. 
 
The second set would start the same as the first, but this time Emmanuel (20-13) would be holding a 12-11 lead after a Mia Cotton kill. The two teams would be tied shortly thereafter at 17-all. Wingate from there would narrowly take a 25-22 win in the set. Emmanuel hit .345 in the second set. 
 
The third set would commence with Emmanuel taking an early 4-1 advantage. That lead would be four at 7-3 just a few points later. Wingate from there would score the next six points to take a 9-7 lead. Wingate would pull away from there to earn the 25-13 win in the third and final set. 
 
Jessica Gray led Emmanuel with nine kills and 10 digs. Sophie Schaff led Wingate with 11 kills. 
 
Back-to-back winners of the Conference Carolinas Women's Volleyball Championship, Emmanuel picked up a thrilling 3-2 five-set come-from-behind victory over King in the 2019 Conference Carolinas Women's Volleyball Championship to advance to the NCAA Division II Women's Volleyball Southeast Regional.
