Allie Downing of Belmont Abbey Selected Conference Carolinas Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
GREENVILLE, S.C. - Allie Downing of Belmont Abbey has been selected as the Conference Carolinas Women's Basketball Player of the Week.
The conference office made the official announcement on Monday, Dec. 9, 2019.
A junior forward out of New Madison, Ohio, Downing averaged 19.5 points, 7.5 rebounds, 2.0 assists and 2.0 steals per game in two Belmont Abbey conference wins last week. She shot 42.4 percent (14-of-33) from the field overall on the week. She was perfect from the charity stripe (6-of-6).
In Belmont Abbey's home conference win over Chowan on Dec. 3, Downing finished her efforts with 17 points and eight rebounds. She followed that up with 22 points, seven rebounds, four assists and three steals in Belmont Abbey's 68-67 road win over King on Saturday, Dec. 7.
