Barton Captures Inaugural Conference Carolinas Men's Swimming Championship; Individual Awards and All-Conference Announced
HIGH POINT, N.C. – The 2018-19 Conference Carolinas Men's Swimming Championship concluded on Saturday, Feb. 9 at the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center in Charlotte, N.C. Barton College would capture the inaugural men's swimming championship with a team score of 847 points.
The Emmanuel College duo of Joao Santos and Alex Sobers were named Conference Carolinas Co-Swimmers of the Year, while King University's Simen Vik was named Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year.
Barton's Tyler Ziegler was named Coach of the Year after leading the Bulldogs to the inaugural Conference Carolinas Men's Swimming Championship title.
New to the Conference Carolinas postseason award offering is the Elite 23 Award. The Elite 23 Award is modeled after the NCAA's Elite 90 Award, which is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumlative GPA at their respective championship site. The inaugural winner for men's swimming is Barton's Luis Reyes.
