Mount Olive Captures Conference Carolinas Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship; Individual Awards and All-Conference Announced
WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The 2018-19 Conference Carolinas Women's Indoor Track and Field Championship was held on Sunday, February 17, 2019 at JDL Fast Track in Winston-Salem, N.C. University of Mount Olive would notch its sixth straight indoor title with a team score of 209.5 points.
In addition to the team title, Mount Olive's Leah Hanle was named the Track Athlete of the Year, while teammates Taylor Moncrief and Jacqueline Thring were named Field Athlete of the Year and Freshman of the Year, respectively.
Matt van Lierop of Mount Olive was tabbed the Coach of the Year after leading the Trojans to the Conference Carolinas Women's Indoor Track & Field Championship.
New to the Conference Carolinas postseason award offering is the Elite 23 Award. The Elite 23 Award is modeled after the NCAA's Elite 90 Award, which is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumlative GPA at their respective championship site. The inaugural winner for women's indoor track & field is North Greenville University's Jadyn Slaughter.
