Mount Olive's McLean and North Greenville's Giacone Named Conference Carolinas Baseball Players of the Week

HIGH POINT, N.C. – University of Mount Olive's Blake McLean was tabbed the Conference Carolinas Baseball Player of the Week, while North Greenville University's Michael Giacone was tabbed the Conference Carolinas Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played Feb. 18-24, the Conference announced today.

A sophomore from Pine Level, N.C., McLean led Mount Olive to a 2-0 record last week with a pair of wins over Conference Carolinas foe Limestone. McLean registered three hits, including one home run, with six RBI and three runs scored. McLean's best performance came in a 10-1 win over Limestone in which he went 2-for-3 with one home run, five RBI and two runs scored.

A junior from Huntington Beach, Calif., Giacone threw five innings of work and picked up a 9-0 win over Barton. In the victory, Giacone gave up no hits and tallied 10 strikeouts while issuing four walks.

Tanner Glass (Southern Wesleyan) - Batted .667 with two hits and four RBI in one game.
Hunter Barbour (King) - Batted .500 with three hits and four RBI in two games.
Adam Sasser (North Greenville) - Batted .417 with five hits and eight RBI in three games.
Jacob Marcos (Barton) - Batted .474 with nine hits and nine RBI in five games.

Also nominated for Baseball Pitcher of the Week
Reed Parris (Mount Olive) - 1-0 record with six innings pitched with nine strikeouts and 0.00 ERA in one appearance.
