Chowan's Lanier Named NCBWA Southeast Hitter of the Week

WINGATE, N.C.Chowan University's Marquise Lanier has been named the NCBWA Southeast Hitter of the Week, as selected by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA), the association announced Tuesday (Mar. 26) afternoon.

A senior from Warsaw, Va., Lanier paced the Hawks to a 2-2 record last week, which included a 2-1 series win over No. 17 Mount Olive in Conference Carolinas play. Lanier notched his second POTW award after hitting .500 with eight hits, including seven extra-base hits (2B, 6 HR), with 14 RBI and 11 runs scored. Lanier's best game came in a 13-6 game one win over Mount Olive, as he went 3-for-4 with two homers, four RBI and four runs scored.
