Mount Olive's Tolston and Barton's Shimmel Named Conference Carolinas Baseball Players of the Week
HIGH POINT, N.C. – University of Mount Olive's Gunner Tolston was tabbed the Conference Carolinas Baseball Player of the Week, while Barton College's Colby Shimmel was tabbed the Conference Carolinas Baseball Pitcher of the Week for games played Apr. 8-14, the Conference announced today. This marks the first POTW for Tolston and fifth overall for Mount Olive, while being the second for Shimmel and third overall for Barton.
Tolston, a junior from Swansboro, N.C., led Mount Olive to a 2-1 series win last week over then-No. 1 North Greenville. Tolston hit .545 with six hits, including five extra-base hits (2 2B, 3 HR), with five RBI and six runs scored. Tolston's best outing came in a 7-4 game one win, going 2-for-4 with one double and one homer with two RBI.
Shimmel, a junior from Windsor, Pa., posted a no-hitter last week for Barton in its game one win over Emmanuel. In the 2-0 victory, Shimmel pitched seven innings, issuing two walks while striking out three batters.

Jakob Rolly (Belmont Abbey) - Batted .750 with six hits and five RBI in two games.

George Helbig (King) - 1-0 record with nine innings pitched with three strikeouts and 0.00 ERA in one appearance.
Michael Giacone (North Greenville) - No contest with six innings pitched with five strikeouts and 1.50 ERA in one appearance.
Eric Mullinax (Limestone) - 1-0 record with seven innings pitched with two strikeouts and 0.00 ERA in one appearance.
Caleb Bishop (Mount Olive) - 1-0 record with seven innings pitched with one strikeout and 1.29 ERA in one appearance.
