2019 Conference Carolinas Men's Lacrosse All-Conference and Major Awards Announced

HIGH POINT, N.C.Limestone College's Larson Sundown and Belmont Abbey College's Liam Osborne were voted the 2019 Co-Conference Carolinas Men's Lacrosse Offensive Players of the Year. Mount Olive's Jacob Williams collected the league's Defensive Player of the Year, while Belmont Abbey College's Noah Haas was named the Freshman of the Year. Additionally, Limestone's J.B. Clarke garnered Coach of the Year honors, the Conference announced today.

New to the Conference Carolinas postseason award offering is the Elite 23 Award. The Elite 23 Award is modeled after the NCAA's Elite 90 Award, which is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA at their respective championship site. The inaugural winner for men's lacrosse is North Greenville University's Blake Thompson.

Sundown, a junior from Basom, N.Y., has been named Conference Carolinas Co-Offensive Player of the Year in his first season with the Saints. Entering the conference tournament, Sundown was second in the league with 53 goals and 79 points while ranking third nationally with 3.79 goals per game.

Osborne, a senior from Bowmanville, Ontario, scored 54 goals during the regular season, and finished with 85 points, both conference-highs in Conference Carolinas.  Osborne also handed out 31 assists, which was second-best in the league.

Williams, a sophomore from Rockwall, Texas, earned Conference Carolinas Defensive Player of the Year honors for the first time in his career. Williams tallied 42 ground balls and 26 caused turnovers while also scoring one goal on the season.

Haas, a freshman from Gulf Breeze, Fla., finished the regular season with 55 points on 43 goals and 12 assists.

Clarke has been named the 2019 Conference Carolinas Coach of the Year for the fourth time in his career after guiding the Saints back to the top of the national rankings this season. After guiding Limestone to three NCAA Division II National Championships, Clarke has led the program back from an off-year as it features the nation’s top-ranked offense and the fourth-ranked defense during the 2019 campaign..

Thompson, a junior accounting major from Pittsburgh, Pa., sports a cumulative 4.0 GPA. Voccia tallied four points on two goals and two assists on the season.
