Mount Olive Claims Conference Carolinas Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championship; Individual Awards and All-Conference Announced
CENTRAL, S.C. – The 2019 Conference Carolinas Women's Outdoor Track and Field Championship was held April 26-27, 2019 on the campus of Southern Wesleyan University in Central, S.C. University of Mount Olive would notch the outdoor title with a team score of 200 points.
In addition to the team title, Mount Olive's Shona Blades was named the Track Athlete of the Year, while teammate Taylor Moncrief was named Field Athlete of the Year and Southern Wesleyan's Mycherie Onwuzurukie earned Freshman of the Year. Matt van Lierop of Mount Olive was tabbed the Coach of the Year after leading the Trojans to the Conference Carolinas Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championship.
New to the Conference Carolinas postseason award offering is the Elite 23 Award. The Elite 23 Award is modeled after the NCAA's Elite 90 Award, which is presented to the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA at their respective championship site. The inaugural winner for women's outdoor track & field is North Greenville University's Lillian Haines.
