Igor Bretas Dantas of Emmanuel Tabbed Conference Carolinas Men’s Swimmer of the Week
GREENVILLE, S.C. - Igor Bretas Dantas of Emmanuel has been tabbed as the Conference Carolinas Men’s Swimmer of the Week.
The league office made the official announcement on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2020. Bretas Dantas has now won the weekly award twice in the 2019-20 season. He also earned the honor on Oct. 9, 2019.
A sophomore from Indaiatuba, Brazil, Bretas Dantas led nationally 14th-ranked Emmanuel with four first-place finishes in a double dual win over SCAD and Carson-Newman.
Bretas Dantas set a new school record and picked up an NCAA Division II national qualifying time in the 50-freestyle with a time of 19.97. The time is currently second in all of Division II. He also posted an NCAA qualifying time in the 100-butterfly with a time of 48.90.
Bretas Dantas also helped lead the 200 medley relay team to victory (21.65 butterfly split) and the 200 freestyle relay team to a win (20.71 freestyle split).
