Chowan Picked to Repeat in 2020-21 Men’s Soccer Preseason Poll
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Defending regular-season champion Chowan has been picked to repeat in the 2020-21 Conference Carolinas Men’s Soccer Preseason Poll.
The conference office officially unveiled the preseason poll on Dec. 18, 2020. The preseason poll was voted on by the league’s head coaches.
Chowan picked up its first-ever Conference Carolinas men’s soccer regular-season title last year with an 8-1-1 mark in league play. The Hawks received eight first-place votes and 79 points overall to secure the top spot in the 2020-21 preseason tally. Erskine collected one first-place vote and was second in the poll with 68 points. Barton and Belmont Abbey both tied for third in the preseason poll with 62 points. Barton claimed the final first-place vote.
Mount Olive (46) was fifth in the preseason poll and they were followed by Emmanuel (37), King (34), Lees-McRae (31), North Greenville (19) and Southern Wesleyan (12).
The 2021 Conference Carolinas Men’s and Women’s Soccer Spring Championships are scheduled to get underway with pool play at higher seeds on Sunday, April 18. Pool play will then continue at higher seeds on Wednesday, April 21 and Sunday, April 25. The 2021 Conference Carolinas Men’s and Women’s Soccer Spring Championships semifinals (Friday, April 30) and finals (Sunday, May 2) are scheduled to be held at the Florence Soccer Complex in Florence, South Carolina.
