Shanika Peterkin of Barton Selected Conference Carolinas Women’s Basketball Player of the Week
GREENVILLE, S.C. - Shanika Peterkin of Barton has been selected as the Conference Carolinas Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.
The conference office made the official announcement on Monday, Feb. 17, 2020. Peterkin has now won the award four times in the 2019-20 season (Nov. 18, Dec. 16, Feb. 3 and Feb. 17).
A junior center from Virginia Beach, Va., Peterkin averaged 21.5 points, 10.0 rebounds and 2.0 blocks per game in two wins last week for Barton. She shot 57.1 percent (16-of-28) from the field in the two league wins for Barton.
Peterkin finished her efforts with 26 points, 11 rebounds and three blocks in Barton’s road win at Chowan on Feb. 11. She followed that up by posting 17 points, nine rebounds and a block in Barton’s road win at North Greenville on Feb. 15.
