Men’s Volleyball Unveils Offensive and Defensive Players of the Year and All-Conference Team to Honor Seniors
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Conference Carolinas officially released its men’s volleyball all-conference team on Monday, April 6, 2020.
The men’s volleyball all-conference team is part of a special process in which Conference Carolinas is honoring its 2020 spring seniors. All of the members of the spring all-conference teams are seniors.
In addition, Angelos Mandilaris of Barton and Liam Maxwell of Belmont Abbey were named Co-Offensive Players of the Year. Michal Podgorzak of Limestone earned Defensive Player of the Year honors.
The league’s head coaches voted on the Offensive and Defensive Player of the Year awards.
A senior right side from Chalkida, Greece, Mandilaris ends his prolific career having won Conference Carolinas Offensive Player of the Year three times. A senior outside hitter out of Manahawkin, N.J., Maxwell earns the honor for the first time after leading all of men’s volleyball with 4.53 kills per set. Mandilaris hit an incredibly impressive league-leading .412 this season and was just behind Maxwell with 4.43 kills per set.
A sophomore libero from Siedlce, Poland, Podgorzak led Conference Carolinas and was among the top five in the entire country with 2.79 digs per set. He averaged 3.03 digs per set in conference play.
